XeMoviePlayer is a free neatly designed standalone video player that can open and play back any FLV, MP4, M4A, MOV, and 3GP video file. You can also use it as an audio player, provided the audio files are either in MP4 or 3GP format. Besides, it can also search for photographs in Flickr using image tags.
Together with the basic playback functions you would expect in any video player, XeMoviePlayer includes some other nice and rare features, such as the possibility of rotating the image in any direction by any degree value between 0 and 360, or zoom the image in and out to a maximum size of up to 4x. Other interesting utilities include the possibility of capturing and saving snapshots, downloading videos from YouTube, and watching High-Definition television. However, for these last two options you will need to download the corresponding Xe-Media plug-ins.
Another feature that is not easy to come by in most free video players is the range of effects that you can apply to the video being played. Thus, you can watch it in black and white, or in negative mode, blur or enhance the video image, or to apply an interesting embossing effect.
Finally, it is worth mentioning its curious Flickr utility. With it, you can search and view (using the tags usually embedded into Flickr photographs) up to 33 images, which you can then open individually in your Web browser.
